WHAT IS COUNTIES UNITED PAC
Counties United is your voice in Lansing — amplified. It allows us to support state legislators who understand county government and stand with county leaders on the critical issues we face, including public safety, infrastructure, unfunded mandates and equitable state funding.
Counties United members will have the opportunity to meet with legislators on important topics and attend Counties United events and fundraisers with other members from around the state. These functions and other membership activities will enable you to become well-versed in state and federal legislative issues. As a Counties United member, you will be a part of our strong grass-roots effort, and you can make the opportunity what you wish it to be. You will have access to information, experience and MAC’s knowledgeable staff — the perfect combination to help MAC become an even stronger voice on behalf of your county.
Counties United is the best way for you to protect your county’s best interest in the state Legislature. Counties United will support legislators who have a record of protecting local control, supporting full payment for mandated services and reducing the burden the state has placed on counties. Your contribution will help increase MAC’s visibility in the Legislature, growing the influence of our already strong organization.
Counties United gives you the power to change the way the Legislature does business with county government by linking you to the 619 commissioners in the state, all speaking with one voice across every House and Senate district. Your contribution strengthens and amplifies our county voice.

Joining Counties United is easy! Simply write a check payable to Counties United and send it to MAC by snail mail or you can donate online. CU has four donor levels, and membership is based on contributions during a calendar year.
Platinum Membership
Donations of $500 or more annually get you:
- Lobby Day with MAC Governmental Affairs Team
- Video Political Updates six times a year
- Counties United swag
- Invites to special Annual Conference event and Legislative County Caucus events
Gold Membership
Donations of $250 to $499 annually get you:

Why Should I Donate?
Actions taken at the State Capitol all too often change the duties, resources and direction of county government. To ensure the best possible local governance for residents of Michigan, county leaders need to work in partnership with state officials. Counties United was created to foster this partnership, by identifying and assisting state legislators who support public policies of benefit to counties and county government.
Your donations to Counties United are translated into donations to these key legislators. MAC staffers work with these lawmakers to ensure the expertise, experience and concerns of county officials are given proper consideration in the legislative process.
Remember, Counties United is the only political action committee devoted to assisting legislators who are allies of county government.
Contributions to Counties United are not tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes as charitable contributions. Michigan law requires us to report the name, address, occupation and employer of each contributor who gives more than $100 in an election cycle. Contributions are prohibited from the treasuries of corporations, labor unions, federal government contractors and foreign nationals without permanent residency status. Contributions to Counties United are voluntary.
By donating to Counties United, you affirm that your contribution is made from personal funds, and not from the general treasury funds of a corporation, organization or national bank, that you have not received any funds from another person or entity for the purposes of making this contribution, that you are a United States citizen or a Green Card Holder who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence and that this contribution will not be reimbursed by another person.
